Out of the tennis courts, one of his other passions is golf. And he is not that bad considering he has a 3.9 handicap. He has stated in several interviews that it helps him to relax and can be seen taken part in tournaments on the island alongside his uncles and friends. However, Pula Golf is perhaps the golf resort closest to his heart as back in November 2013 he teamed up with profesional golfer José María Olazábal to create the Olazabal & Nadal Invitational, a charity golf tournament that takes place at the impressive courses of the exclusive golf resort.

If you want to see and play on the clay courts where the legend of The King of Clay started, it is not Roland Garros that you should be packing to but Manacor. This humble tennis club is where Nadal began to play tennis and although he could choose to train now in some of the most exclusive courts around the world, he still preferes to train in his hometown club. In fact, if you visit in the morning, you may catch him training on the clay court, preparing for the world‘s best clay court tennis tournaments!

Mallorca

Mallorca or Majorca is the largest island in the Balearic Islands, which are part of Spain and located in the Mediterranean. The native language, as on the rest of the Balearic Islands, is Catalan, which is co-official with Spanish. The capital of the island, Palma, is also the capital of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. The Balearic Islands have been an autonomous region of Spain since 1983. There are two small islands off the coast of Mallorca: Cabrera (southeast of Palma) and Dragonera (west of Palma). The anthem of Mallorca is "La Balanguera". Like the other Balearic Islands of Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, the island is an extremely popular holiday destination, particularly for tourists from Germany and the United Kingdom. The international airport, Palma de Mallorca Airport, is one of the busiest in Spain; it was used by 28.0 million passengers in 2017, increasing every year since 2012. The name derives from Classical Latin insula maior, "larger island". Later, in Medieval Latin, this became Maiorica, "the larger one", in comparison to Menorca, "the smaller one".

In Mallorca I think there are two kinds of places. On the west side we have the mountains, Serra de Tramuntana, which are amazingly beautiful, but it’s true that there are not many beaches. On the east coast it’s much flatter and there are lots of beaches. I like both things.

Serra de Tramuntana

The Serra de Tramuntana (Sierra de Tramontana) is a mountain range running southwest–northeast which forms the northern backbone of the Spanish island of Mallorca. It is also the name given to the comarca of the same area. On 27 June 2011, the Tramuntana Range was awarded World Heritage Status by UNESCO as an area of great physical and cultural significance.

I remember a holiday I had in the northern part of Mallorca, up to the north of Serra de Tramuntana. It was just before the summer. There was nobody there and the water was fantastic. The season was almost starting and I went all around the island for two days after coming back from the Miami Open. It was incredible.
