I think the fact that it didn't totally disturb the hell out of me – like if I'd have watched The Exorcist or The Shining that young, it might have had a different effect but it had the sort of sci-fi edge that’s not too brutal. [This] opened the door for me to An American Werewolf in London and The Howling.

It f—ed me up for life. I still can’t walk down a long corridor without getting scared.

Of course, a masterpiece. That’s the one film where I finally understood why some directors do a million takes.

I think that The Shining is probably my favorite horror movie just because it’s a smart film, but at the same token it’s so chilling, and there’s so much to dig into. I mean, I could get myself into two-hour-long hauls just looking at conspiracy theories about it on the internet.

I think that If I came to a hotel that is abandoned in like "The Shining," I would probably put my family back in the car and drive away.

I’d say The Shining. One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest. I’m a huge Jack Nicholson fan. He’s obviously… Everything from Five Easy Pieces, another one that’s just phenomenal to me… Yeah, he’s a god to me.

There is like a seminal moment in my life, when I was young very young and my dad showed me "The Shining". It was so weird cuz at one point I was so freaked about it, but I was aroused at the same time for the like one of the first times, maybe the first time in my life and I was sitting next to my father that all happening at once is kind of edged in my mind forever and not the best of way,but it's there.

My first favorite film is The Shining by Stanley Kubrick. I am a huge horror film fan. I love them so much. I’ve always loved them. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been attracted to scary stuff; I don’t know why.

and Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. “It kind of breaks your heart when you watch it again,” he said of the latter.

What was the last film you saw, and name some of your favourite movies? Inception. Extraodinary, breathtaking mindmaze of a thriller. Badlands, Elephant, The Shining, Let the Right One In, Zoolander, Withnail and I, Brief Encounter, I am Love, Michael Clayton, The Prophet, the Bourne trilogy and anything from Michael Winterbottom and Steve Soderbergh, Kubrick and Hitchcock.
