I did a few other little things. I did a few portraits of Celia and a portrait of Ken Tyler, which I spent about three days drawing from life on a big stone, and he hated me playing Wagner opera so I gave him the title “The Master Printer of Los Angeles” .

But Beethoven, I might have been listening to Beethoven sometimes when I did a landscape. I remember in the car driving on Woldgate, I would play Glenn Gould’s version of Franz Liszt’s version of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony on the piano. The car was the last place I could listen to music really, because it was a good car, it had 18 speakers.
