Secrets & Lies is a great Mike Lee movie I think over time it's watching something that seems so simple. I'm obsessed with the complexity you can fit within something that looks seemingly so simple.

And this film is full of them! At times it feels so intimate it’s almost voyeuristic. To me, that’s what makes a performance really exciting…when you’re almost embarrassed to be peeking into peoples’ lives. And that happens a lot in this perfect emotional drama.

"I think [Spall's breakdown] is one of the most profound moments I've ever experienced in watching a movie. He'd been suppressing so much of his emotions throughout the movie that he does have this kind of freak-out moment, and I remember in the theater all of a sudden bursting into tears," Rudd says. "It really affected me and surprised me. It's one that I always go back to."
