To me, the Matrix is the perfect metaphor for the human experience. The movie is about belief - belief in one's self. Once you have that, you can do anything (that doesn't violate the laws of physics.

Some of my favorite rom-coms growing up are “You’ve Got Mail” and “13 Going on 30.” And then I also watched films like the “The Matrix,” “Schindler’s List,” “Dead Poets Society,” “Good Will Hunting,” “Radio,” “Snow Dogs” and Disney films. All kinds of things.

It’s not literally about sleep, but when I came to my own epiphany about sleep, it changed everything. I might as well have swallowed the red pill in The Matrix. When Morpheus first describes being trapped in the Matrix to Neo, it’s as if he’s talking about the all-too-familiar condition of perpetual sleep deprivation: it’s “a prison that you cannot smell or taste or touch—a prison for your mind.” I’m glad I finally took the red pill—and there’s no going back now.

My top film in any category. From the opening credits to final scenes, every moment of this film is so fully conceived and so well executed that in spite of the complete fantasy world portrayed, the viewer was there, experiencing it with the characters themselves.

What movie set from his past would he like to revisit, and what would he tell his former self. “I’d go back to the Wild Wild West [set] and I would say, ‘Asshole, why didn’t you do The Matrix?” Smith joked.

Matrix is a good movie. It's interesting, well-acted, and eye-opening. It's worth watching, and I'd recommend it to anyone who's looking for a good film.

All right here is my thread to watch the Matrix for #MillarGeekFriday! It’s one of my favorite movies - I vividly remember leaning over to my friend in the theatre and whispering “this is the greatest movie I’ve ever seen.”

Watching the matrix on AMC... I love when trinity gets dubbed with "shucks" vs "shit". It's funny but honestly this movie will never get old

Actually 4 of those are Keanu, Point Break, Matrix, Street Kings, John Wick, and then Nic Cage playing the 5. If you haven’t seen any of those movies I suggest you watch tonight. If you’re done with Tiger King.

The same could be said about The Matrix movies, all three. A lot of people will be like, “Well, no, just the first one, because the other two weren’t to my fancy.” I liked all three because I like the entire story. What a unique concept that the world is completely fake, and amazing to think that machines could be running things, as I sit here and talk into a machine recorder. It’s just a really forward-thinking concept.

I mean, it's a groundbreaking film. I think it was ahead of its time but still resonated with the audience. It still feels fresh after all these years and really opens up interesting conversations on reality and what life and society really is. Do we live in a simulation? Who knows. But one thing is for sure: Cinema, especially sci-fi and action, changed after this film.

I ran into Keanu Reeves a dozen years ago. He just got back from shooting the first Matrix, and I said to him, naively, “Hey, man, how’d that go?” He was like, “I’ve been on another planet for nine months.” And I was like, “Uh, OK, how’d the shoot go?” But once I saw it, I was like, man, I didn’t know. Once I saw the movie, any question I could have asked him was answered in that answer.

Short and sweet in her response, she answered, “The first Matrix, huge fan. Amazing,” choosing to bypass the action movies she helped to elevate herself.

Movies such as The Matrix and Her and TV series such as Westworld and Black Mirror shape how people understand the most important technological, social and economic developments of our time.
