Overall, most of the time his fighting has been based on unpredictability and using his powers. However, recently in the comics, Spiderman lost his spider-sense, and to make up for it, he took Kung Fu training, and eventually created his own unique style. When his spider-sense later returned, he now had a fighting style made up of a combination of his Kung Fu training and his original unique style.

Capoeira

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. It was developed by enslaved Africans in Brazil at the beginning of the 16th century. It is known for its acrobatic and complex maneuvers, often involving hands on the ground and inverted kicks. It emphasizes flowing movements rather than fixed stances; the ginga, a rocking step, is usually the focal point of the technique. The most widely accepted origin of the word capoeira comes from the Tupi words ka'a ("forest") paũ ("round"), referring to the areas of low vegetation in the Brazilian interior where fugitive slaves would hide. A practitioner of the art is called a capoeirista . On 26 November 2014, capoeira was granted a special protected status as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.

Spiderman borrows a number of techniques from Capoeira. He moves backwards, away from danger with the Macaco Em Pe, and lashes out with a martelo de Negativa kick. While he borrows a handful of specific techniques from Capoeira, the influence on his movement style runs deeper.

New York Mets

The New York Mets are a Major League Baseball team based in the New York City borough of Queens. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) East division. They are one of two MLB teams based in New York City, the other being the New York Yankees of the American League (AL). One of baseball's first expansion teams, the Mets were founded in 1962 to replace New York's departed NL teams, the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants. The team's colors combine the Dodgers' blue and the Giants' orange. Since then, they have played in four World Series, including a dramatic run in that ended in a seven-game loss to the Oakland Athletics, a second championship in over the Boston Red Sox, a Subway Series loss against their cross-town rivals the New York Yankees in and a five-game loss to the Kansas City Royals in . The Mets qualified to play in the MLB postseason in 1988 and 2006, coming within one game of the World Series both years. After near-misses in 2007 and 2008, the team made the playoffs in 2015 for the first time in nine years, and won their first NL pennant in 15 years. The team again returned to the playoffs in 2016, this time with a wild card berth. This was the team's second back-to-back playoff appearance, the first occurring during the 1999 and 2000 seasons. At the end of the 2019 season, the team's overall win-loss record was 4448–4808, a .481 win percentage.

A New York Mets pennant can be seen in Peter's room, which cements the comic's tradition of having the Queens-based Parker being a fan of the team.
