It chronicles the early life and career of iconic fashion designer Coco Chanel, played by Audrey Tautou. The film does a good job of showing how Chanel rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most influential designers of her time. Tautou is excellent in the title role, capturing both Chanel's legendary ambition and strength as well as her vulnerability.

Little Book of Gucci

The Little Book of Gucci tells the story of this historic yet flourishing house, and the visionary looks that have cemented its place in fashion history. One of the oldest Italian fashion brands in existence today, Gucci was founded in Florence in 1921. Guccio Gucci established his company with the goal of creating opulent luggage for Italy's wealthy and fashionable upper-classes. With the signature Gucci print of dark brown diamonds on a tan background, interlocking G logo and red and green stripe, the brand has gone on to become the last word in Italian luxury. Gucci's signature items – the belt, the bag, the loafer – transcend fleeting fashion trends, and have remained central to the house's identity into the twenty-first century. Under the stewardship of Tom Ford, Gucci epitomized the louche and mischievous 1990s aesthetic. Today, under Alessandro Michele, the brand's combination of romance and toughness is in hot demand. The Little Book of Gucci tells the story of this historic yet flourishing house, and the visionary looks that have cemented its place in fashion history./p

Little Book of Gucci is good. It has a lot of pictures and it tells about different collections. I like the way it is written - very easy to read and understand. The book doesn't go too in-depth into the design process or the philosophy behind each collection, but that's not really its aim. It's more of a coffee table book and a snapshot into the luxury brand's world. So if you're looking for something to give you an overview of Gucci, then this is a good option. But if you're looking for something more analytical, then you might be disappointed.

Tom Ford 002

A fashion icon, provocative American designer Tom Ford brings us his highly anticipated second book, which takes readers through the illustrious trajectory of his billion-dollar luxury empire established in 2005. Synonymous with high-octane glamour, opulent sexuality, and fearless fashion, Tom Ford is an iconic designer whose namesake label has devout followers across the globe, from Milan and New Delhi to Shanghai and New York. Seventeen years after his best-selling debut book Tom Ford (2004), which detailed his time as creative director for the Italian label Gucci, this second volume is a visual ode to Ford’s eponymous brand created in 2005 and encompasses cosmetics, eyewear, menswear, and his critically acclaimed womenswear line. The revered designer not only catapulted his brand to the highest echelons of the fashion world—receiving accolades from the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Time magazine’s Best Designer of the Year—but also commanded the attention of Hollywood by featuring loyal A-list fans such as Julianne Moore, Lauren Hutton, Pat Cleveland, and Nicholas Hoult in his runway shows and advertising campaigns. This gorgeous slipcased volume includes dazzling imagery of Ford’s clothing and accessories designs, fashion editorials featuring top models such as Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls, Mica Argañaraz, and Jon Kortajarena, and his signature sexually-charged advertising campaigns by photographers such as Inez & Vinoodh, Nick Knight, Steven Meisel, and Mert & Marcus. Little Book of Dior

This richly illustrated entry in the stylish series tells the story of groundbreaking designer Christian Dior and the fashion house he founded. Christian Dior's spectacular rise to the upper echelons of Parisian haute couture is one of the most compelling stories of twentieth-century fashion. An art gallerist with a contemporary vision, Dior's debut collection invented the "new look" silhouette and revolutionized the way women dressed, shopped, and saw themselves. The House of Dior's unique style blended the traditional, artisanal skills of the French fashion house--tailoring and intricate embellishment--with a modern sensibility. Dior himself helmed the company for only a decade, but it has flourished under the creative direction of some of the most storied names in fashion. Currently, Maria Grazia Chiuri steers the brand as it stays true to its identity--of opulence, femininity, drama, and what Christian Dior called "the complete look," from garments to perfume and shoes. Little Book of Dior tells the story of Christian Dior's early life, the brand's inception, the triumphs of the couture collections on the catwalk and the red carpet, and the brand's journey after the death of its founder.

Digital Fashion Pro is good - it can definitely help you create some great looking designs. But there's a lot more to fashion than just design, and if you're not careful, you could easily find yourself relying too heavily on the software and not getting the full picture of what's involved in fashion.
