The Happiness Project

Over the summer in 2014, I took this wonderful online positive psychology class at UCLA, and around that same time, given what I was studying, I picked up a copy of "The Happiness Project" by gretchenrubin. Lemme tell you, this is my ideal kind of book; there's a format you can follow or deviate from, and above all, it's filled with insights -- and I mean profound insights backed up with *significant* research.

Think Like a Monk

I’m thrilled to start the new year with jayshetty’s thought-provoking book, “Think Like a Monk: Train Your Mind for Peace and Purpose Every Day.” Weaving in anecdotes and teachings of his time as a monk, Jay offers applicable advice to “reduce stress, improve relationships, and give the gifts we find in ourselves to the world.”

Loneliness is a phenomenon we all experience, yet seldom understand, and Hertz offers hope and clear changes for establishing genuine connection with our wider communities. ⁣

A Forever Family

first came to know of them and their family’s journey when I read rob_scheer’s book, “A Forever Family: Fostering Change One Child at a Time.” Despite Rob’s own experiences with abusive parents, he knew from the time he was six years old that he wanted to be a dad. His inspiring book shares his journey from foster care to foster and adoptive parent. Rob and Reece are now the proud parents of five kids, ranging from ages 11-19. ⁣
