Moore’s favorite movies include some classics and critical darlings. Two that she cites as near the top of her list are Woody Allen’s Annie Hall and Michel Gondry’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Quite cerebral fare!

What was in the Rogen household VHS library? My parents were big action movie fans: Die Hard, Total Recall, Lethal Weapon. A lot of Woody Allen movies, like Hannah and Her Sisters and Annie Hall. Those were the movies I watched a ton of when I was a kid.

It’s one of those movies that, every time it comes on TV, I have to sit down and watch it even if I’ve seen it before.

“Marshall McLuhan is the greatest f-ck-you ever. It’s something you wish you could do, just to shut somebody up. It’s almost like a Bugs Bunny move, pulling McLuhan out—and I didn’t even know who McLuhan was the first time I saw it. So many movies have tried to take that move, too. If you got a great Stephen Hawking or Malcom Gladwell cameo, that would be the equivalent today.”

I joke about the prostitute thing, but oftentimes female characters are layered and complex because they have a dark side. You don’t usually see characters like Annie Hall—complex just because she’s complex.

Hi Ben, what are a few of your favorite comfort movies that are nostalgic to you and you never tire of? Ghostbusters. Loads of John Hughes classics. Annie Hall.

This is the toughest one for me to do because the instinct is to say Annie Hall, because it’s undeniably, I think, perfect — in terms of comedy, romantic comedy specifically.
