Set in 1977, back when sex was safe, pleasure was a business and business was booming, idealistic porn producer Jack Horner aspires to elevate his craft to an art form. Horner discovers Eddie Adams, a hot young talent working as a busboy in a nightclub, and welcomes him into the extended family of movie-makers, misfits and hangers-on that are always around. Adams' rise from nobody to a celebrity adult entertainer is meteoric, and soon the whole world seems to know his porn alter ego, "Dirk Diggler". Now, when disco and drugs are in vogue, fashion is in flux and the party never seems to stop, Adams' dreams of turning sex into stardom are about to collide with cold, hard reality.

Paul Thomas Anderson is a magnificent filmmaker with impeccable storytelling. Boogie Nights was so fascinating. Watching Dirk Diggler go from a broken home to a makeshift family of adult filmmakers to his spectacularly chaotic downfall. There is not a dull moment in this film and it sits with you after you watch it. Ultimately, everyone in this film is just a broken person with dreams of stardom because deep down they crave love, admiration and appreciation. This industry is their way of escaping from the lives they no longer want, but it comes at a price.

Well, all my friends were telling me like, 'That guy is great, you gotta watch his movies.' I said, 'yeah, yeah I will see Boogie Nights.' And then I saw that, I saw Magnolia, and I said, 'Holy shit! This guy is unbelievable.'

Amazing, and just the most incredible performances. Julianne Moore just killed in that movie.

Paul Thomas Anderson is my absolute hero, and there's nothing that he's done that I haven't felt like a kid in a candy store when I get to experience his work. I could easily say There Will be Blood or Punch-Drunk Love or Boogie Nights or Phantom Thread or so many films.

I never get sick of watching it. And the acting is just some of my favorite actors at the top of their game.
