I feel Girls Like Us is a crucial and important book. I had the pleasure of hearing Rachel Lloyd speak and her fearless accounts of her pained past moved me to tears. While it's a heartbreaking read about female sex trafficking, there are bouts of levity that helped me sail through the pages. One of the aspects I found most compelling was Rachel's focus on the socioeconomic aspects of abuse. Working very closely with a domestic violence shelter, I could relate to the very sad but familiar stories. In the end, it's a redemptive uplifting book filled with triumph that changed the way I look at our world's most precious angels -our little girls...
