He was on inspired by Susan Sonntag's "Notes of Camp". If you read Susan Sontag's remarkable essays, you will understand that Camp is an expression of everything that is artificial, everything that is a little bit fake, it is opposite of nature. (1 m 21 s)

Styles co-chaired the Met Gala alongside Lady Gaga and Serena Williams on Monday, May 6, and he apparently took his duties very seriously. Even as far back as October, he was reading up on Susan Sontag’s “Notes on Camp” to get familiar with this year’s theme.
