The Power of Now

Updated: 7 Sep 2020
To make the journey into the Now we will need to leave our analytical mind and its false created self, the ego, behind. From the very first page of Eckhart Tolle's extraordinary book, we move rapidly into a significantly higher altitude where we breathe a lighter air. We become connected to the indestructible essence of our Being, “The eternal, ever present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death.” Although the journey is challenging, Eckhart Tolle uses simple language and an easy question and answer format to guide us. A word of mouth phenomenon since its first publication, The Power of Now is one of those rare books with the power to create an experience in readers, one that can radically change their lives for the better.

Meg Ryan and Ellen DeGeneres gave me copies of this book, and it's gotten me through more crises than I can count. It truly helped me discover how to live in the now—to not linger on past mistakes, but to learn from them and then let them go.

I'm reading Stillness Speaks by Eckhart Tolle. He's one of my favorite spiritual authors and I have read all of of his works starting with The Power Of Now many years ago.

Next on her reading list is "The Power of Now," Eckhart Tolle's bestseller that was first published in 1999. "This is such an important book, because it teaches the reader to be in the moment, to focus your mind on the here and now, and to pay attention. For so many people, focusing and paying attention is a real problem, and so many people are so easily distracted. This book has helped me immensely with my own attention deficit disorder."
