Достойно получненных премий Небьюла (1990) и Локус (1991).Более философская и созерцательная книга по сравнению с классической трилогией "Земноморья". Возможно, придется по вкусу сторонникам феминистского взгляда на литературу и героев.

События этой повести, происходят через несколько лет, после описанных в романе «Техану», перед романом «На ином ветру». Стрекоза жила на острове Уэй, в краю, который назывался Ирия. Была она из знатной, но обедневшей семьи. Мать её умерла родами, а отец, поручив воспитание девочки экономке, напрочь забыл о ней. Девочка росла сущей дикаркой, чувствуя себя в обществе собак, лошадей и коров, намного лучше чем в обществе людей.

Завершающая книга о Земноморье, написанная через много лет после первых романов. Такое чувство, что это набросок произведения. Текст и персонажи настолько сырые, что складывается впечатление, будто книгу либо писал другой человек, либо Урсула бросила ее в печать не поработав над сюжетными линиями. Очень на нее не похоже.К прочтению не рекомендуется, дабы не портить впечатление от предыдущих книг цикла. Из положительного - логичное завершение некоторых вопросов, поднятых в 3-х классических романах.
